You are watching a live stream of New London, Connecticut, USA, located on Amtrak's Boston Division! Our live webcam offers an around-the-clock view of the northeast corridor through New London, CT, capturing trains as they pass through. New London has been a significant stop on the Northeast Corridor since the 19th century, originally served by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. The city's historic Union Station, designed by famed architect Henry Hobson Richardson, opened in 1888 and still serves passengers today. With the creation of Amtrak in 1971, New London remained a stop for intercity passenger trains, though the line between New Haven and Boston remained non-electrified, requiring diesel locomotives. That changed in 2000, when Amtrak completed electrification from New Haven to Boston, allowing Acela and upgraded Northeast Regional service through the area. The city also plays a critical role in commuter rail service. In 1990, the Connecticut Department of Transportation launched Shore Line East, linking New London to New Haven with multiple daily trips. Shore Line East continues to be an essential option for local commuters, students, and travelers connecting to Metro-North and Amtrak. Today, New London's tracks are busy with Amtrak Acela, Northeast Regional, Shore Line East, and Providence & Worcester freight trains. It remains a vibrant rail hub, rich in history and full of action.
