Welcome to The Needles static webcam – the Isle of Wight's most iconic and world-famous landmark. Situated at Alum Bay, this breathtaking natural wonder is renowned for its chairlift, coloured sands, and dramatic chalk cliffs.

The Needles feature three towering chalk stacks rising 30m from the Solent, with the Needles Lighthouse marking the western tip. Once four in number, the landmark was named after the now-lost "Lot's Wife" rock, which collapsed during a storm in 1764. Today, storms still shape this rugged coastline, often recording some of the UK's highest wind speeds.

🏰 Above the cliffs you'll find the Old and New Needles Battery, part of a National Trust site designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The National Coastwatch Institution's Needles Station also keeps watch from this vantage point.
