THE VIEW
Looking east across the channel. Brown pelicans dive for fish here and cormorants dry their wings on the rocks. Great blue herons stalk the shallows, and sea lions and harbor seals surface between the docks. Mallards drift through the marina, grebes work the channel, and the local pigeons treat the balcony railing like a lunch counter. They also stand directly on the camera lens, so if the screen goes dark, that's not a technical issue... Frank the great blue heron sleeps on someone else's sailboat like he pays rent. Bird feeders and a freshwater station just off camera bring hummingbirds, house finches, doves, and goldfinches through the frame throughout the day.

Directly across the water: the Channel Islands Harbor public boat launch facility and kayak launch. Channel Islands Rowing Club crews practice. Hopper Boat Rentals, fishing charters, sailboats, and Duffy boats move through the channel all day. At night: stars, harbor lights on the water, planes overhead.
