The area around the historic Berea Union Depot and BE Tower became well known during the Conrail years, when Berea was part of the busy "Conrail X," linking traffic from Chicago, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Cleveland, and points beyond. Today, the location remains a busy railroad hotspot with Norfolk Southern's Chicago Line and CSX's Cleveland-area mainline traffic moving through the area.

BE Tower still stands as a reminder of Berea's railroad history and the days when interlocking towers controlled the movement of trains through key junctions.
