Philippine Eagle Nest Cam - Mount Apo

The Raptor Resource Project has partnered with the Philippine Eagle Foundation and explore.org to bring you the Philippine Eagle cam, live from the base of Mount Apo on the island of Mindanao. The Philippine Eagle Cam offers an unparalleled window to the world's most endangered eagle. The camera system is at the new Philippine Eagle Conservation Breeding Sanctuary (PECBS) in Barangay Eden. It is used to monitor the health, status, and overall welfare of Philippine eagle natural pair - Ariela and MVP Matatag. Both are rescued eagles who could no longer safely fly back in their forest home. Ariela was rescued with a missing talon while MVP Matatag had a fractured wing. These injuries compromised their ability to fend for themselves in the forest and since then, the Philippine Eagle Center has been their home. Research and surveillance through this cam network will be instrumental during the breeding season in July. As new breeding methods are explored, such as natural chick rearing, the camera system will minimize human influence during breeding and help ensure that this new breeding method for Philippine eagles is effective. This year (2024) will be their 5th breeding season.
