Welcome to the BNSF Cuba Subdivision North Yard Downtown Camera. This camera is located at roughly MP236 of the BNSF Cuba Subdivision near the intersection of Jefferson and Commercial Street in the Commercial Street Historic District in Springfield Mo. This area has a rich history of railroad influence from the old St Louis and San Francisco "FRISCO" Railroad to the current day Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad which you are currently viewing. You may see as many as 35 trains a day ranging from local yard activity, to Powder River Coal trains, to hotshot intermodal and manifest traffic. This traffic can move in four different directions leaving Springfield. To the east is the Thayer North Subdivision to Memphis TN and the Cuba Subdivision routed towards St. Louis Mo. To the West is the Cherokee Subdivision routed towards Tulsa OK, and the Ft Scott Subdivision routed towards Kansas City and other points Northwest. Pay particular attention to the yard traffic as several caboose are employed as shoving platforms. Also locomotives from all of the Class one railroads are frequent visitors to Springfield.

Commercial Street is a great and safe place to watch trains! Unique shopping, re-energize your self at our award winning eating and drinking establishments, check out our historic architecture, and a wide range of cultural events, await those who venture down to "The Street"! Our soon to be renovated historic Jefferson Avenue Footbridge will once again offer a unique stand right over the top of the train view. Ample free parking is available and there is excellent law enforcement coverage in the area.
