The Northern Pacific began running here in 1881, and today more than three dozen BNSF trains — oil, coal, autos, intermodal, manifest freight, and grain, lots of grain — roll through daily. Ritzville's Templin Terminal regularly originates 7,200-foot-long wheat trains, which head west to port. Trains from Templin typically stop for a few minutes a block east of the camera, at Columbia Street, before heading west.

BNSF maintenance-of-way crews regularly use the sidings in Ritzville when working in the area. The LORAM rail grinder is a frequent overnight visitor.
