Mendota Union Depot Railroad Museum - Live Train Cam

This railcam shows the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad at Mendota, Illinois. Train movements include BNSF trains operating between Chicago and Galesburg, as well as a local based in Mendota. This depot is also an Amtrak station stop for six daily trains, including the Southwest Chief, two state-sponsored trains the Illinois Zephyr and Carl Sandberg. The California Zephyr passes this location twice daily but does not stop.

Thank you to the Mendota Union Depot Railroad Museum for hosting at this location. The museum is located at 783 Main St in downtown Mendota, Illinois. Volunteers staff the depot on weekend afternoons. There is also an operating HO model railroad on site which represents downtown Mendota and railyards in 1940. The museum hosts a variety of artifacts, equipment and rolling stock that can be viewed. CB&Q 4978 is a Mikado class 2-8-2 steam locomotive on display at the museum grounds. It was built in 1923 by Baldwin Locomotive Works and was donated to the LaSalle County Historical Society in 1964. It is on loan to the Depot and has been on display at the depot grounds since 1997. The Union Depot Railroad Museum maintains the locomotive and rolling stock on the grounds.
