Peregrine Falcon Nest Box - Charles Sturt University, Orange
VerifiedGENERAL INFORMATION This site follows a family of peregrine falcons using a nest box since 2008 in a water tower at Charles Sturt University, Orange, Australia.
The female is Diamond (aged at least 13) and the male is Gimbir (hard 'g' Gim-bear, meaning 'spring' or 'fountain' in the local Wiradjuri language) is in his second year.

NEWS 15th July
After some rather hesitant approaches to Diamond, there have finally been a couple of matings, just five second in duration, but a good start (if belated, Xavier and Damond were mating by late May).
His bonding and gift giving has upped a bit too, although rather than giving the prey directly to Diamond, he is leaving them in the box, so we can't be certain these are courtship gifts.
There have been one or two intruders around recently, perhaps sensing an opening, but our pair seem to be resolute in seeing them off the premises. Here is a good example from this morning: https://youtu.be/ozfx3dCEncM.
All being well, we should expect eggs by mid to late August or early September.
