👶🦛 Welcome to the Mars Cam – Live from Tanganyika Wildlife Park!

Meet Mars, our baby pygmy hippo who's making waves (literally) at Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Kansas! Tune in from noon to four each day to watch him waddle, splash, snack, nap, and charm his way into your heart.

Mars was born to Posie, a seasoned mom, and is part of a remarkable lineage of pygmy hippos that includes Yeti and Link—you might even recognize them from our famous Pygmy Hippo Kisses encounter! Mars is also one of only fewer than 40 pygmy hippos born in North America over the last 30 years, making this livestream extra special.

💡 Fun Fact:
Pygmy hippos are endangered and extremely rare, with fewer than 3,000 left in the wild. They're native to the dense forests and swamps of West Africa, and they're much more solitary and secretive than their larger Nile cousins.

💦 Heads up about the water:
If it looks a little murky… well, Mars is a hippo! He eats, plays, and yes—poops—in the pool. It's all part of the hippo lifestyle. Our animal care team keeps the habitat safe and healthy for him, even when the water isn't crystal clear.
